Data source & how to use it

This page uses the latest available district-level figures from the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE), 2024. Per-student spending is calculated as total district expenditures divided by total student count (Pre-K + K–12).

Every district’s situation is unique—staffing, facilities, special programs, and local needs vary—so please treat this as a starting point for conversations with your school board and administrators. If your district’s spending seems high, ask them to explain why.
