About Act for Missouri
Act for Missouri exists to help ordinary Missourians take back the responsibility of self-government.
President Calvin Coolidge warned:
“Unless the people, through unified action, arise and take charge of their government, they will find that their government has taken charge of them. Independence and liberty will be gone, and the general public will find itself in a condition of servitude to an aggregation of organized and selfish interest.”
That’s exactly what we see happening when lobbyists, party insiders, and well-funded interest groups get heard first—and citizens come last. We exist to change that.
Our Missouri Foundation
Missouri’s own Constitution starts with the people:
“All political power is vested in and derived from the people; all government of right originates from the people, is founded upon their will only, and is instituted solely for the good of the whole.”
And just a few lines later:
“The people of this state have the inherent, sole and exclusive right to regulate the internal government and police thereof, and to alter and abolish their constitution and form of government whenever they may deem it necessary to their safety and happiness.”
In other words: in Missouri, the people are the government. Government is not supposed to rule over us; it is supposed to answer to us.
That’s the spirit Act for Missouri wants to revive.
What We Believe
-
God is the author of liberty.
We believe, as the Founders did, that the U.S. Constitution was divinely inspired to secure God-given rights—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
-
Life begins at conception.
We are unapologetically pro-life and reject efforts to weaken, carve out, or permanently enshrine abortion exceptions into our Constitution. Every child is made in the image of God.
-
The Constitution still works—if we use it.
We hold to a strong, original-intent view of the Constitution and an unwavering support for the Second Amendment as written.
-
Limited government is better government.
Smaller, constitutional government means lower taxes, greater local control, and more freedom for Missouri families.
-
Parents, not the state, are responsible for children.
We support protecting our children and taking back our schools from union control, ideological agendas, and cultural fads. Schools should educate, not indoctrinate.
-
Self-government requires a moral people.
As John Adams said, our Constitution “is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” We affirm biblical, Judeo-Christian principles as the moral foundation of our nation and our state.
Why This Matters in Missouri
James Madison warned about exactly what we see in Jefferson City:
“It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood... or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow.”
Too often our legislature passes long, complicated bills with nice titles—but ugly consequences. Our job is to help citizens see what’s actually in the bill and whether it lines up with the Missouri and U.S. Constitutions.
What We Do
- Track and explain Missouri legislation in plain language
- Expose the gap between what politicians say and what their bills actually do
- Equip citizens to act—call, email, show up, testify, and hold their legislators accountable
- Promote groups, causes, and candidates that advance constitutional, pro-life, and pro-family policies
- Create tools and resources (webpages, videos, podcasts, action alerts) so Missourians can act quickly and share truth with others
What We Are Not
- We are not a front for any political party, PAC, or candidate.
- We are not interested in keeping abortion, taxes, or education reform as “permanent campaign issues.”
- We are not going to rubber-stamp a bill just because it has an “R” behind it.
This site is not directly affiliated with any group or candidate, but we will promote those groups, causes, and candidates that support the ideals and values described above.
Act for Missouri is a volunteer-led effort. No one here is on salary and no one is doing this for a paycheck. We are Missouri citizens donating our time to help other Missourians stay informed and engaged. When people give to Act for Missouri, those funds go toward keeping the technology running, producing and printing materials, and covering travel to events, hearings, and trainings—so we can keep showing up.
Our Call to Missourians
Missouri has given Republicans a supermajority, but we still see soaring property taxes, utility increases, and insider-driven legislation. That tells us the real issue is this:
Will the people of Missouri actually exercise the authority the Constitution says already belongs to them?
Our answer is yes.
Be informed. Be present. Be biblical. Be constitutional.
Act for Missouri.
