The 2-2-2 Plan
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will be able to teach others also”
- 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)
This plan is a simple way to counter complacency and or apathy. Instead of an afterthought, civic involvement becomes a prioritized habit, a personal investment in the future of our cities, county, country, and families.
2 Hours (Time)
Dedicate 2 hours WEEKLY of your time in your community or in educating yourself in topics concerning your city, county, or state. This isn’t daily, it’s weekly, 15 minutes a day – we spent much more than this mindlessly scrolling social media!
Ideas and suggestions:
- Go to school board meetings, city council meetings, learn more about the various municipal groups, who serves? Are there vacancies?
- Learn - Who is your state representative? State senator?
- Get familiar with the State Constitution – read two pages a day
- Listen to a podcast
- Jump on the 93.3 radio channel or app
- How does our state legislation work, how do you influence our elected officials?
- Volunteer to help with elections, be an election judge, poll watcher, or someone who helps set up and take down the voting locations
2 Percent (Treasure)
Can you give 2% of your income or even $25 a month to a person or cause who you see working on the front lines on behalf of the citizens of Missouri? Many grassroots groups are doing the work on their own dime and time, fighting for the citizens. Support for the work is a blessing and appreciated.
Suggestions:
- Is there a local Turning Point group?
- We The People group?
- 93.3 Real Talk Radio – Can you help sponsor a show? Advertise?
- Act For Missouri (act4mo.org)
2 Posts (Honor)
Social media is the battlefield; if you’re waiting for us to be shooting bullets in a field, you’re gonna miss the fight. It’s not coming, it’s here already. Love it or hate it, get active on social media platforms such as Facebook and X – your politicians are!
Suggestions:
- Find your elected officials for your city and county
- Find grassroots groups mentioned above and in your area
- Start engaging in conversations – it’s ok if it’s a back and forth, it’s how we learn and how we come up with better ideas and solutions
- If you’re really daring, follow the other side – you’ll learn a lot, but not recommended for those with high blood pressure, lol
- Help groups by sharing posts. We need information to get out to people across the state, and it’s going to take all of us doing a little
